Homeward Bound: A Path from Homelessness to Homeownership

A Journey Toward Stability and Ownership

At Do Good On Purpose, we believe everyone deserves a place to call home and a pathway to a brighter future.

Homeward Bound: A Path from Homelessness to Homeownership is our groundbreaking initiative that empowers individuals facing homelessness to achieve tiny home ownership through structured support, volunteer service, and sustainable income.

Participants embark on a transformational journey that begins with Starter Village, progresses to

Good Samaritan Village, and ultimately leads to full homeownership—fostering independence, stability, and renewed purpose.

How the Program Works

Step 1: Starter Village – A Fresh Start

Participants begin their journey in Starter Village, where they reside in small, thoughtfully designed

house pods (typically 8'x10') that include:

• A comfortable bed

• A fold-down desk and chair

• A private sink, toilet, and shower

• Access to communal resources and mentorship

This initial stage provides essential shelter and a structured environment to help individuals rebuild their lives.

After demonstrating compliance with the program requirements, participants become eligible to transition to the next phase.

Step 2: Good Samaritan Village – Building Stability

Once participants have successfully completed their time in Starter Village, they can apply to move into a new tiny home in Good Samaritan Village.

In Good Samaritan Village, they will:

• Live in their own spacious fully functional tiny home (under 399 sq. ft. interior living space)

• Continue working toward homeownership through structured community service

• Receive ongoing support, resources, and mentorship to ensure success

This transitional stage allows individuals to gain deeper independence while they fulfill the volunteer commitment required for full ownership.

Step 3: Homeownership – A Place to Call Their Own

Participants who complete 2,000 hours of community service (equivalent to 20 hours per week for 50 weeks a year over two years) and secure a sustainable income—whether through employment, social security, or retirement—will achieve the incredible milestone of homeownership.

Upon completing the program, they will:

• Officially own their tiny home

• Move it to a permanent location within the community

• Continue their journey toward personal and financial stability

This final step offers individuals the dignity of homeownership, a sense of accomplishment, and a new beginning.
