Together, we can Do Good On Purpose.
Do Good On Purpose is a charitable organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families facing hardship. We provide pathways to hope, health, home, and self-sufficiency through innovative programs such as FreshStart, Guardian Health and Wellness, Harvest Soup and Salad Cafe, Starter Village, Good Samaritan Villages, and Jobs For Hire.
Our mission is to empower individuals experiencing homelessness to achieve homeownership and stability through dedicated volunteerism and mutual support, fostering a sense of purpose and community.
Our housing program consists of two stages: the Starter Village and the Good Samaritan Tiny Home Homeownership Program. Participants start in the Starter Village, where they receive support and stability, and then transition to the Good Samaritan Tiny Home Homeownership Program, where they earn a tiny home through volunteer service.
The Starter Village provides immediate shelter and support for individuals who have no drug or alcohol abuse or has completed rehabilitation. The village includes one-room units, communal facilities, and access to life skills workshops and mental health support.
Participants typically stay in the Starter Village for 6 to 12 months, depending on their progress and readiness to move to the Homeownership Program.
In the Homeownership Program, participants volunteer at least 21 hours per week with locally approved charity organizations. Over two years, they earn "mortgage credits" towards the ownership of a tiny home in one of our villages.
Participants earn their tiny home by completing a total of 2,100 hours of volunteer service over two years. These hours are converted into mortgage credits, which are used to acquire their tiny home.
Eligible participants must be drug-free, not engaged in alcohol abuse, and have completed a certified rehabilitation program. Proof of completion and a commitment to maintaining sobriety are required.
Interested individuals can apply by contacting us directly through our website or by phone. Our team will guide applicants through the process and provide necessary information.
Applicants must be drug and alcohol free, provide certified proof of their most recent rehabilitation completion (if applicable), state issued personal identification, birth certificate, and any other documents requested during the application process.
The Starter Village features free-standing, 8' x 10' one-room units with keyed entrance doors, a Community Center with a kitchen, dining room, and meeting rooms, and a beautiful Communal Garden all within a gated community setting.
Tiny home villages are close-knit communities with communal gardens, a community center, and various scheduled activities. Residents have access to essential services, support staff, and opportunities for community engagement.
Participants receive support from health screenings, case managers, mental health counselors, employment and life skills trainers, and other staff members. They also have access to workshops, counseling services, and communal activities.
Yes, participants must adhere to program guidelines, including maintaining sobriety, participating in required activities, and following community rules. Random drug and alcohol tests are conducted to ensure compliance.
We accept monetary donations, as well as in-kind donations such as clothing, food, and household items. Please contact us for a list of current needs and how to donate.
